In 1986, New Era introduced a cap called the MLB Diamond Collection to the American Major League Baseball, and sold to the public. In 1993, New Era Hats completely defeated its main competitors and was granted special certificates for the manufacturers by the U.S. Major League Baseball.
In 1996, the famous black American director Spike Lee directed a film personally asked New Era to design a full red team cap with white font of the New York Yankees team for him, which then made the New Era raise a great fame. In 2006, The head office of New Era Cap Company was transfered from suburbs to the middle of city in Buffalo. The same year, on May, the first flagship store was opened at SOHO district in New York city.
